The Benefits of Visiting a Medical Spa

People who visit our medical spa love taking advantage of the many treatments and procedures available for enhancing the appearance of their skin affected by problems ranging from sun damage to signs of aging. We at E Med Spa are proud to provide a variety of non-invasive options to those who wish to avoid the complications and hassle of traditional surgery.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable skin rejuvenation products with names like Juvederm® and Restylane®. Each contains a somewhat different formulation and ingredients, but both dermal fillers work in the same basic way: they enhance your facial volume to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles.

Restylane® is the brand name of a dermal filler containing hyaluronic acid that is injected into the face for wrinkle reduction. The product offers excellent results, but you will require periodic touch-ups to maintain your increased skin thickness and wrinkle reduction.

Juvederm® is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler mixed within a gel that is injected into your face to help reduce wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture into your skin and helps to add additional volume. Think of a water balloon. When it is full of water, it is smoother and less affected by folds and creases. When fully hydrated, your skin works in a similar way. Juvederm® helps to hydrate your skin at the cellular level. In addition to hyaluronic acid, Juvederm® contains lidocaine to ensure your comfort.

What is Microdermabrasion?

If you are undergoing a medical spa microdermabrasion treatment, we use a small device to spray tiny abrasive crystals onto your skin to break up the outer skin layer that blocks fresher skin underneath. This treatment is quite good for those dealing with dull, tired-looking skin. If you need wrinkle reduction or minimization of scars, you will probably need a stronger form of treatment.

What are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels range in strength from mild exfoliation to deep scar removal. Superficial peels normally contain mild acids like glycolic and lactic acid, while deep peels work more deeply with stronger acids like phenol and carbolic acid. The type you may need depends upon the severity of your skin condition and can be determined at your initial consultation.
